Pairings Meme

Why? Because I can. :P Going with FFXII, might add more fandoms later.

One True Pairing Ship: ...I don't really have any one die-hard OTP. Zecht/Drace is what I write frequently as of late, yes.

Canon Ship: Do Gabranth/Drace or Balthier/Fran count as canon?

"If This Happens I'll Stab My Eyes Out With a Spork" Ship: Vaan/Ashe, because she will break him into so many little pieces or Vaan/Penelo, because childhood friends turned lovers is Game Stereotype #332084320.

"You Are One Sick Bastard" Ship: Vayne/Penelo, because there is so much potential for so much fucked up between them.

"I Dabble a Little" Ship: I've considered writing older!Larsa/older!Penelo, Reddas/Ashe, Balthier/older!Penelo, Fran/Penelo, and some Vayne/Ashe or Al-Cid Ashe, just for the interesting of the dynamics between all them. I need to get more comfortable with what I'm writing now, though; just got back into writing after a good long break.

"It's Like a Car Crash" Ship: Vayne/Ashe and Basch/Ashe and Balthier/Ashe. YOU CAN'T LOOK AWAY. ...Really, anyone/Ashe will be a massive flaming wreck that will be fun to watch go down.

"Tickles My Fancy But Not Sold Just Yet" Ship: Basch/Penelo, @ FFXII ages. There's good character-exploring stuff written for it, but the age difference and the naivete on the latter's part screams bad to me b/c of experiences that others around me have had, and my own experiences.

"Makes No Canon Sense But Why the Hell Not" Ship: ....Erm, can't think of any?

"Everyone Else Loves It But I Just Don't Feel It" Ship: Basch/Ashe. They are not a Princess and loyal Knight chivalry romance dynamic, they will tear each other apart.

"When All is Said and Done" Ship: Zecht/Drace. The dynamic of these two in my headcanon is incomparable at this point in time.

Also, for those of you who know my other fandoms, feel free to suggest. :P

The Dark Knight and Watchmen

So, yeah. Midnight showing. Running on about three hours of sleep, and caffine is made of LOVE.

It was worth it. It was so frakking worth it.

Cut for SPOILERS and geekery )

Also, FIRST WATCHMEN TRAILER.

Mkay, from what I'm seeing here? This is going to be nothing short of phenomenal.

They have shots down to the exact angle they were in the chapters. Dr. Manhattan looks frakking amazing, the song in the background is amazing and I WANTS it, ohmygodRORSCHACH, and the riots and the Comedian and just the castle on Mars and oh. It needs to be March. NOW.

Only part I'm a bit iffy on is Veidt's actor and Laurie's outfit; otherwise, this has my full and complete blessing.

"The world will look up and shout, "Save us!". And I'll whisper, "No."" <-- Best line in the whole trailer, and the one I've wanted to hear aloud since reading that book.

Ten Songs Meme

Got this meme from [info]manic_intent, who in turn got it from [info]kingsandprinces. What you do is think of a fandom (FFXII, here) and a pairing (Zecht/Drace), and then put your music player on shuffle, and write a drabble related to the song in the space that each song plays; do ten of these, and then post.

Thought it'd be fun to do and a good exercise in general; note that I did pause to write down song titles, which may or may not be considered cheating...

Zecht/Drace, AWAY!! )

So, yeah. In case you haven't figured out, my music taste is just a little odd. :P

DAMN YOU PUEL. :P

So, [info]puella_nerdii and I were talking on AIM Saturday evening, and we were trying to come up with a hierarchy of whose lives sucked more among the Judges Magister. And this is what she said about Bergan:

7:42:37 PM Puella Nerdii: Berganating Bur-Omnisace
7:42:48 PM Puella Nerdii: Berganating the pilgrims

...And this resulted. I wish to state that it is mostly her fault. :P

However, UNREPENTANT PUEL AND VENNEH ARE UNREPENTANT.

Again, to cover my ass, don't own the song or the game, nods to [info]mariagoner's Top 10 Reasons to Ship Larsa/Penelo and spoilers at the least through Bur-Omisace.

Take FFXII + Avenue Q and You Get...

..something that [info]mithrigil and her X/1999 Avenue Q parody is to be blamed in entirety for.

Just to cover my ass, do not own FFXII or Avenue Q. Also, rhyme may be a bit screwy in parts, parts of the original song have been preserved where they fit, spoilers through Archades at the very least, and the bit at the end is a nod to an upcoming Kinkfest prompt of [info]logistika_nyx, which I am very eager to see.

Takes place just after the Leviathan.

More or Less Abandoned

Yeah, you've probably noticed that I haven't posted in something like two months. I just am not up to blogging individual episodes anymore, and as a result, this journal is more or less abandoned. I might post reviews of series once I'm done with them, though. And maybe fic, if I can actually get the motivation to write it.

So, yeah.

Akane Mainax

...What the HELL?!

It's like whoever did this smoked some pot before deciding to throw out everything that made Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien what it was to involve Akane in a half-assed shonen show centering on an idiot that gives Naruto a run for his money.

To whoever made this OVA: You fail, sir. FAIL.

[DROPPED]

Now, onto Red Garden!

Wed, Nov. 14th, 2007, 02:37 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Fourteen

Takayuki and Haruka spend their last time together. Takayuki ends up telling Haruka about Mitsuki, and that it's her that he really loves, he realized. Haruka also realizes that the Takayuki she wants, from three years ago, isn't really there anymore. The book that's been so central to this whole thing ends up paralelling the story so much that it's heartbreaking when Haruka recites it, and tells him that it's time for them to say goodbye, and try to do it with a smile.

Takayuki spends most of the rest of the episode frantically turning the town upside down trying to find Mitsuki. She ends up inadvertantly coming to him at the tree where Haruka confessed, and after she voices her doubts about going back, they decide to start over.

Flash forward. Haruka's all recovered and such, Mitsuki's superior is getting divorced, things are going swimmingly at Takayuki's old restaurant and they miss him and such, and Takayuki and Mitsuki have moved out of their apartment. A few more years later, Haruka's working on picture books like she always wanted to, and Akane's swimming professionally, Shinji and the girl he was pursuing are together, and Takayuki and Mitsuki are (presumably, even though you never really saw it spelled out) together.

Great series. It's got a good story at it's core, and it's probably going to get your close to crying more than once.

Now, onto the Akane-centric OVA!

Tue, Nov. 13th, 2007, 05:20 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Thirteen

Haruka finally confronts Takayuki about whether or not he's dating anyone, and the answer is no, because Mitsuki broke up with him and all, but he doesn't mention that. She and Mitsuki end up talking later, and she admits that she was the rebound, and Haruka reacts just like everyone thought she would. So now Akane's feeling more guilty than ever. Haruka's trying to put on a strong face, but really, she's miserable, especially because her legs may well be paralyzed.

And it looks like Takayuki's finally made up his mind, and not a moment too soon, with it being the last episode next episode, so we'll see what happens there...

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Thirteen]

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Twelve

So, Mitsuki takes care of Takayuki till he's more or less mkay, and then talks things through with him, about the whole situation and how she can't take Haruka's place anymore, tells him about what happened the other night, and gives him back the ring that she's had since the second episode and breaks up with him. Takayuki's left to figure things out, especially now that Shinji's made him own up to things/beat some sense into him. Oh, Haruka's back up and on her way to recovery, and Akane wants Takayuki to come and see her.

Takayuki's archetype -- indecisive/insensitive/clueless male -- really pushes my buttons, mainly from personal experience. Grow a backbone already!

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Twelve]

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Eleven

So, it's the morning after, and Mitsuki finally breaks down. She snaps out of it when she gets to work and finds out that Takayuki came by, and was sick (which he is, now, and really bad at that). And they finally figure out that having Takayuki see Haruka isn't a good idea anymore, and decide to quit that. Akane's figured out that she's been blaming everyone else for what's been happening since the accident, and is out of bitch mode now, and not a moment too soon.

Um, turning point, please?

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Eleven]

Tue, Nov. 13th, 2007, 03:31 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Ten

Haruka's starting to realize that time's passed, so things should get interesting there. And Akane's sick with something that's probably more than the common cold. And it turns out Mitsuki's superior at work is in a similar situation. Mitsuki goes out and gets drunk and ends up cheating on Takayuki with Shinji. And Akane reveals everything because she can't keep faking it and sends Haruka back into a coma.

Phwee! Bring on the drama, please!

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Ten]

Tue, Nov. 13th, 2007, 03:07 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Nine

So now Mitsuki and Takayuki are even more distant than ever. Takayuki spends most of the episode moping around about possible company employment and trying to find the book that Haruka wanted three years ago. Mitsuki spends most of the episode being depressed/distant about what's happened, and ends up talking to Shinji about what's going on. Takayuki's coworkers actually got some dimensions to them, so that's nice. And something's up with Akane, and Haruka, who's finally figured out that time's passed.

God, I can't wait to see what happens next...

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Nine]

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Eight

And we have yet another pair of superfluous airheads in Haruka's nurses. Whoo.

So, Mitsuki and Takayuki are going through the motions as they're living together, and Mitsuki goes to visit Haruka for once, and finds herself getting a little jealous over things. That night, she asks Takayuki not to see her again, and finally asks whether or not he still likes her, which, of course, ends up causing a fight between them. So, instead of going to see Haruka, he ends up spending more time at work, which, of course, causes them to become more and more distant. One night, he ends up going back to see Haruka, and he does end up cheating on Mitsuki.

Oh, this is going to be fun.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Eight]

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Seven

Ooh, shit's hitting the fan now!

So, Haruka's starting to act like she's in a relationship with Takayuki again, which puts strain on Mitsuki and Takayuki's relationship, and after a night of drinking, Mitsuki voices all of her doubts and insecurities about the situation, which any sane woman would have, in my opinion. Akane's finally asked Takayuki to stop seeing Haruka, because she's finally figured out that it's not a good idea.

Mitsuki's moved in with Takayuki now, though, and it's possible that Takayuki's going to break the news to Haruka soon (let's hope that that's the case, because it's the best thing to do). And Akane is still being a bitch, but she's starting to come around.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Seven]

Tue, Nov. 13th, 2007, 01:11 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Six

So Akane continues to be a bitch of the first class, and I'm really getting to the point where I want to strangle her. Takayuki and Mitsuki are both feeling pretty guilty about their relationship now that Haruka's up, and I'm of the opinion that they shouldn't be. And of course, now Haruka's parents want Takayuki to play along, which is A BAD IDEA(tm). And Takayuki's coworkers continue to be superfluous.

I just hope someone smacks some sense into Akane at some point. I mean, was she really expecting Takayuki to love Haruka forevar and evar? I understand where she's coming from, but really, honey, it wasn't like they were going to marry.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Six]

Sat, Nov. 10th, 2007, 11:44 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Five

So, with Takayuki and Mitsuki dealing with the fact that Haruka's awake and they're supposed to act like the last three years never happened, they flashback to what happened two to three years ago, initially after the accident, which basically involves Mitsuki dragging Takayuki kicking and screaming from his guilt-ridden wreck of a state, and how they got together in the first place.

The way Akane's making Takayuki feel guilty is especially more annoying after her parents asked him to stop seeing Haruka. Um, bitch, please. Just because they were dating doesn't mean that they were going to be together forever.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Five]

Sat, Nov. 10th, 2007, 11:21 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Four

So, Takayuki and Mitsuki are deciding on where to live together... and of course, they do this just as Haruka wakes up. (facedesk) And she wants to see him. (facedesk, again) And they want him to pretend like everything was like it was for her sake. (facedesk ad infinitum) So their (Takayuki and Mitsuki's) going together ends up being amazingly awkward and such. And Akane's being a bitch about the fact that Takayuki and Mitsuki got together.

Oh, I'm terrible for even thinking this, but this is going to be fun, because the fact that they're supposed to pretend that nothing's happening is such an amazingly bad idea, not to mention how much of a bitch Akane's being about the whole thing.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Four]

Sat, Nov. 10th, 2007, 10:51 pm
Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Three

So, it's been three years or so, and Takayuki and Mitsuki are... well, they're in a relationship, but it's more like friends with benefits, and figuring things out. They end up running into Akane across from the place where Haruka had her accident, and she makes them both feel terrible about things.

Oh, and I like Mitsuki better with shorter hair; her hair was just a bit ridiculous before. And his two coworkers seem kind of superfluous, really.

The OP and ED are pretty stereotypical; both are sung by women, and the OP's an upbeat pop number and the ED's a sweet ballad. Meh.

[/Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Three]

Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien Two

So now it's summer, and things seem to be going well for Haruka and Takayuki. Also, he meets the family, and it goes over pretty well, which is always nice, and they get pretty close to doing it. Mitsuki, meanwhile, is burying herself in swimming to try and distract herself, and talks to Takayuki about getting a boyfriend, even though it's pretty clear that she still has a thing for him.

And then just when you're thinking things are going to be all bright and happy and sparkly and such, Haruka gets hit in a hit-and-run accident and ends up in the hospital, and Takayuki feels guilty because he was late because he was buying Mitsuki a birthday gift. And that's where the episode leaves off.

So at least it's not going to be this little ball of fluff, because I probably couldn't have taken an entire series full of it.

They haven't had an OP/ED up until the end of the episode, which I bet is the OP, and it doesn't make that much of an impression on me.
